Terms, Conditions, Cancellations & Changes
Before booking and attending any course at The DIY School you must read and agree to the following:-
ALL students must have the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- It is MANDATORY for all students to bring with them to wear whilst training, a pair of lightweight rubber faced work gloves. Examples like these, are ideal. https://www.screwfix.com/c/safety-workwear/work-gloves/cat850338
- It is MANDATORY for all students to bring with them a face mask. Masks must be worn for Health & Safety, whilst mixing plaster and tile adhesives.

DEPOSITS
A non refundable, cleared deposit of £50 is required to secure each place on each course, if the booking is not done via the DIY School website. For 1 day courses the full balance is required at the time of booking. Places are allocated on a first cleared funds basis.
BALANCE
The balance of course fees becomes payable, in full, with cleared funds i.e. cash or card, 14 days inclusive prior to the start of the course. If paying by cheque please allow sufficient time for it to clear. The DIY School is unable to refund any fees for cancellation or re-arrangements notified to us within the 14 days inclusive prior to the start of the course for any reason.
CANCELATIONS & CHANGES
If you have booked a course and decide to cancel your booking within 14 days of the purchase date, we will refund your course fees less a £25 administration fee. Please note, we will not be able to offer any refund and full course fees will become payable, if the booking is made, then cancelled within 14 days of the course start date.
If you wish to cancel your course booking and notify us 14 days after the purchase date, we will refund 50% of your course fees. The remaining (50%) balance of fees can be used as a discount, if you decide to book again. Course rebooking discounts are valid for 12 months from the date your course fees are refunded. We will supply you with a course booking discount code.
If you are unable to attend your course and notify us within 14 days inclusive of the start date of the course, we will not be able to offer any refund and full course fees will become payable. In exceptional circumstances, we may be able to offer you a course rebooking code for a fee of £99.
If you have to stop attending your course due to illness or are contacted by the NHS and advised to self isolate, a £99 rebooking fee will be required to re-book you on to another course. Course places are dependant on sufficient spare capacity for new customer bookings.
Any per course re-arrangement or cancellation will be subject to a £25 processing charge, at any time after the booking is made. Changes to course date bookings can only be made 14 Days prior to the original course booked date.
Discounts
Any multiple course discount can not be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
To claim a £50 contribution towards accommodation costs, if you live over 100 miles from our training centres, please ensure you bring along proof of address and details of your hotel booking. This discount can not be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
Students are responsible for assessing their own physical and learning suitability for the course. The DIY School reserves the right to refuse acceptance of bookings at any time before or during the course where a student's attendance may seem unsuitable or impact the ability of The DIY School to provide a safe and high level of service.
Students must provide suitable safety work wear and safety boots suitable for work in a construction area. Clothing will become heavily soiled.
Students must adhere to given Health and Safety guidelines and use safety equipment provided by The DIY School. The DIY School cannot be held responsible for loss, injury or damage incurred by students as result of attending or visiting The DIY School.
The activities conducted at The DIY School present the similar risk of injury as any construction site and DIY project at home. Courses involve use of dangerous equipment and machinery, lifting and reaching. The DIY School will not be held responsible for any injury, loss or damage as a result of visiting The DIY School or attending the courses.
Students have the right to refuse to partake in any activity. No refund is available.
Each student attends at their own risk. Consult your doctor if in doubt about your physical suitability for any of the courses.
Pictures are taken of students whilst attending their courses, solely for the purpose of student memorabilia, marketing and media. Please make the DIY School aware if you do not want to have your photograph taken whilst attending your course.
Fees paid are for the use of The DIY School facilities, tools and materials only.
Course dates may be changed by The DIY School without notice. The school will not be responsible for loss or damage as a result of changed dates.Alternative dates will be offered where courses are cancelled by The DIY School for whatever reason.
The DIY School reserves the right to refuse any application before or during the course.
The DIY School cannot guarantee the level of skill each individual will attain during or after the course.
The DIY School reserves the right to change course content without notice.
In the event of a cancellation of the course by The DIY School part way through the course you will be offered a place on the next available course or a prorata refund will be offered for the outstanding proportion of the course.
The DIY School will not be held responsible for associated costs or losses as a result of cancellations or changes. Including but not limited to earnings, travel costs, accommodation costs etc.
The DIY School reserves the right to withdraw any promotion, offer or discount.
