Wallpapering Brush

Wallpapering brush
These notes support the Painting and Decorating Course run by The DIY School in the North West in Stockport near Manchester.

The wallpapering brush is used to smooth wall paper onto a wall when it is being hung. It is the ideal tool to help push paper into corners without tearing the paper.

The brush should be used in a motion from centre of the paper outward and smoothing the paper in a downward direction thus moving air bubble to the side and un hung part of the paper.

The wallpapering brush should remain dry and clean at all times to ensure that the surface of the paper does not become marked.

After completing the wall papering project rinse the brush through with salt water and dry naturally. This will help to remove the paste more thoroughly and will leave the brush soft and springy for then next time it is used.
