The DIY School Essentials Plastering Course is designed to enable students to tackle the majority of plastering jobs that they may face on a DIY or professional property development or renovation project.
Though designed with absolute beginners in mind the course also offers those with some experience of plastering the chance to perfect techniques, correct bad habits and develop confidence that they are working correctly when offering plastering as part of a paid job.
For many customers it forms the basis for the start of a new career in plastering for others it enables them to add to existing construction skills that they already offer as a paid professional such as tiling or plumbing.
On this 4 day intensive practical plastering training course the exercises enable you to learn how to :
- Prepare your job including tools, materials, mixing area and waste in order to maintain a manageable and professional work environment.
- Select, estimate, handle, cut and apply the correct plasterboard to stud work using nails or screws.
- Apply plasterboard to solid surfaces using plasterboard adhesive. Also known as dry lining or dot and dab.
- Correctly use a plasterer’s spot board, hand board and plasters trowel.
- Correctly mix skim, bonding and adhesive using electric mixer.
- Skim and over skim multiple ceilings and walls.
- Use our special technique to maintain control of your wall avoiding problems whilst improving finish standards across larger surfaces.
- Repair large areas with bonding from a solid surface such as brick or concrete for example and re skim.
- Skim on to plaster board.
- Skim on to multi surfaces including bonding or cement.
- Repair and feather-in a hole in plasterboard or plastered wall using bonding and skim mix.
- How to flatten an uneven surface with a tight coat of bonding prior to a tiling project for example.
- How to skim internal and external corners including using skim beading
- Advice on employment, estimating, quoting and CSCS cards.

If you book more than one course or more than one person we will refund a 10% discount from the cheapest courses back to your card. If you are making a multiple booking by way of a cheque in the post please apply the discount to your total. The first course does not attract a discount.
