The DIY School 4 day DIY Home and Property Repairs Course covers a wide range of the most common day to day maintenance task to be found around the home. These are the tasks that it seems the most difficult to find a reliable trades person to take on. They are also the ones that really do look so simple to tackle yourself if only you had a little knowledge and experience.
Armed with the knowledge and experience delivered on this course you will have covered the skills required to tackle these jobs yourself. Jobs will get done quickly, before further damage sets in, to a good standard and at a fraction of the cost and time taken to find and pay a trades person to do.
Everybody who completes this course has the chance to recover the cost of the course in tackling just one job themselves. With call out charges rarely below £60 and daily rates at over £120 per day it is easy to see how a tap washer or door lock replaced by yourself can save money.
The course is purely practical with you tackling all the tasks yourselves.
If you are not confident with basic DIY tools, why not consider coming on the 1 day DIY Tool Use course first.

General
- Replace a door handle or lock
- Hang curtain rails and polls
- Hang a row of pictures
- Replace a broken double glazed unit, lock or handle
- Fitting door and window security
- Replace a broken tile
- Restoring small areas of old tile grout
- Replace bathroom silicon sealant
- Turning off main water, gas & electricity
- Use of safety equipment including pipe and cable detectors, step ladders and safe working practices
- Preventative maintenance
- Small plaster repair
Plumbing
- Plumbing system overview
- Replace or repair a dripping bathroom or kitchen tap
- Replace or fit a thermostatic radiator valve
- Diagnosing common central heating cold spots
- Refilling a central heating system .
- Bleed a radiator
- Installing or replacing a washing machine or dishwasher
- Unblock a sink or replace a u-bend
- Repairing and overflowing toilet cistern
- Repairing a burst pipe
Electrical
- Electrical system overview
- Changing a plug and plug fuse
- Replace a faulty light switch, ceiling light and socket

If you book more than one course or more than one person we will refund a 10% discount from the cheapest courses back to your card. If you are making a multiple booking by way of a cheque in the post please apply the discount to your total. The first course does not attract a discount.
