Unless you can be sure of the standard of finish that a professional decorator will deliver the only person you can really depend upon is yourself. Because decorating is the long lasting finish that you and visitors will always see it is vital that it done to a high standard avoiding the errors that un-trained people make such as runs, bubbles, gaps, uneven cuts and pattern mismatches.
Over the duration of this course you will cover and practice the skills and techniques required to redecorate a room to a high standard using paints, patterned and plain wall papers on walls and ceilings. You will also cover preparing walls and wood for painting going on to apply emulsion, primer and gloss paints learning how to use the correct brush and roller to get fast, even and straight results. The course will also cover some simple design rules; techniques for estimating quantities; selection of appropriate materials; good preparation including paper stripping, wood sanding, hole filling, wall sizing as well as protecting furniture and floor coverings.
- Tools used - Steamer, Scraper, Rollers, Brushes, Paste Board, Scissors, Plumb line or level, Sponge, Sanding Paper, Caulk Gun, Smoothing Brush
- Materials used - Backing Paper, Patterned Paper; Gloss, Emulsion and Primer Paints, Size, Paper Adhesive, Fillers, Caulk, Masking Tape, Brush Cleaner
