Summer 2009 saw Andy Mapp join us at The DIY School in Manchester for the Essential Tiling Course. Shortly afterwards he sent us same great pictures of his first job straight after the course. Remember, Andy had never laid a tile before the course.
"I am an operational Fire Fighter working for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
Before I joined the Fire Service I had my own plumbing and heating business and due to the shift pattern decided to keep the business running on a part time basis.
An expanding part of the business is the design and installation of bathrooms, including the tiling. I have never been confident enough to complete the tiling professionally so relied on others to do it.
I did an internet search to find out if there were any tiling courses available and luckily found the DIY School. As an added bonus they were offering Fire Service Discount! The course duration was four days and it was exactly what I was looking for, being relaxed and informative with great facilities.
After completing the course it gave me the confidence to carry out my own tiling and by following the techniques learnt during the course ensures it is done to a professional standard.
