Building upon the comprehensive and well practiced skills developed in Bricklaying Essentials, Bricklaying Advanced - Cavity Walls, develops your skill set and knowledge towards building brick structures that are likely to be more substantial and covered by building and planning regulations.
Now that you understand how to keep courses, verticals and corners true using lines and levels; correctly use cut bricks such as half and quarter bats, queen closers etc. you will quickly build a cavity wall in Bricklaying Advanced - Cavity Walls. Exercises include common features such as vertical and horizontal damp proof courses, wall ties, lintels or catnics as well as window and door openings. You will also practice maintaining a constant cavity depth, installing cavity installation and accommodating joist.
- Tools used - Gauge rod, mixer, line and pins, levels, builders and pointing trowels, pointing tools, cavity guard, spot boards.
- Materials used - Brick, Block, Sand, Cement, DPC, Wall Ties, Catnic or Lintel
- Physical Demands - High. Prolonged bending
- Previous Experience -Bricklaying 1 or previous basic bricklaying skills
