About Course Qualifications

Tiling Courses - Decorating Courses - Bricklaying Courses - DIY Courses - Plastering Courses

The most common reason people ask us about qualifications is in order that they can set up their own business as plasterers, tillers, decorators or Handyman for example. This type of business does not require any form of qualification, diploma or NVQ.

Our courses have enabled many people to set up their own successful businesses and many of them you can read about in the customer stories section of the website. Click on the button above to gain access.

The private and domestic sector is busy even during the down turn in the building sector. With many people paying the lowest ever monthly mortgages, spare cash is being spent on decorating and updating homes rather than moving.

Homeowners rarely ask to see evidence of an NVQ or City and Guilds. Instead they usually look for a recommendation from friend or acquaintance or someone who turns up when they say the will, does not overcharge them and does a good job. We know of many NVQ or Time Served individuals who cannot deliver the high standards of work achieved by customers of The DIY school.

Qualifications are required when looking to work on formal building sites however we suggest that it would take a number of years to become fast enough to operate in this highly demanding and competitive market. The training is much longer, is expensive and includes a large proportion of theory as well as assessments and in some instances exams.
